Hi Everyone!
In this video I am going to share with you a Roasted Hasselback Potatoes recipe.
Hasselback potatoes are a visually stunning and delicious side dish that originated in Sweden. They are named after the restaurant where they were first introduced, Hasselbacken, located in Stockholm.
These unique potatoes are known for their accordion-like appearance and crispy texture. This versatile dish pairs well with a wide range of main courses, from roast meats to grilled vegetables. The hasselback potatoes' elegant and eye-catching presentation makes them a favorite choice for special occasions or when you want to elevate a simple meal into something extraordinary.
Recipe Notes:
I use chopsticks and lined them up parallel with the potatoes during slicing. This handy trick will prevent the knife from cutting through the potatoes. You could also use a wooden spoon instead of chopsticks.
I use chat potatoes which are essentially baby potatoes (they are smaller in size). You could substitute this with any other types of potatoes.
To vary the flavor, you could also add shredded cheese and bacon on top of the hasselback potatoes. Add these during the last 15 minutes of cooking time. Top this with sour cream and it is perfect as a side or starter.
I used a fan-forced oven set to 180 deg.C to roast the hasselback potatoes. If you have a conventional oven, the temperature would be 200 deg.C.
INGREDIENTS FOR ROASTED HASSELBACK POTATOES
============================================
(Serves 2-4 peoples)
✅️ 500 Gm Chat Potatoes
✅️ ½ Tsp Salt (I use Himalayan Pink Salt)
✅️ ½ Tsp Black Pepper Powder
✅️ 50 Gm Butter, melted
METHOD OF PREPARATION:
Place the potatoes in between chopsticks and slice the potatoes horizontally. Slice about 5mm apart leaving about 1.2cm at the bottom still attached (the chopsticks will help to avoid the knife from cutting through). The result will look like the accordion.

After 30 minutes remove potatoes from the oven. The layers of the potatoes should already be separated at this time. Sprinkle salt and pepper mixture on top and drizzle the remaining melted butter. Return the potatoes back to oven and continue cooking for another 30 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Remove the potatoes from oven and serve hot/warm with the mains of your choice.
