Hi Everyone!
In this video I am going to share with you a Mashed Sweet Potatoes recipe.
Mashed sweet potatoes provide a delicious and nutritious option that showcases the natural sweetness of the potatoes. They are a wonderful addition to any meal, providing a touch of indulgence.
Recipe Notes:
I am using orange flesh sweet potato in this recipe. If you wish to vary the flavor of the dish, you could use other types of sweet potatoes.
The orange flesh sweet potatoes are easily softened compare with other types of sweet potatoes. Be careful not to overcook this. Use a skewer to poke the potatoes to check for tenderness.
Sweet potatoes by nature is not creamy, I added milk while cooking the sweet potatoes to give it more creamy texture. The milk also enhances the flavor.
It is recommended to use unsalted butter and then add salt to taste. If salted butter is use, you won’t be able to control the saltiness of the mashed potatoes.
INGREDIENTS FOR MASHED SWEET POTATOES
======================================
(Serves 2-4 peoples)
✅️ 500 Gm Sweet Potato, peeled; cut to medium chunk
✅️ 2 Cup Plain Water
✅️ 1 Cup Full Cream Milk
✅️ 25 Gm Unsalted Butter

METHOD OF PREPARATION:
Boil sweet potatoes in 2 cups of plain water until tender (not mushy), use skewers to test the tenderness. Discard the boiling water and return the pot to the stove. Add milk, salt and black pepper to taste. Continue cooking until the amount of milk in the pot left about 3 tablespoons.
Mash the sweet potatoes using the potato masher. Add butter and mash together with the sweet potatoes.
If the mashed sweet potatoes is too runny, return the pot to the stove and set heat to LOW. Keep stirring to avoid the bottom from burning. Cook to the desired thickness/consistency.
Remove the mashed sweet potatoes and serve warm with the main dish of your choice or savor it as is.
